The Guest House offers secure parking and bicycle storage. We regret we cannot accept pets other than guide dogs.
Close by is a gym facility offering daily rates at very reasonable prices. There is also access to a leisure centre with swimming pool and sports halls, a couple of local golf clubs and a nine hole municipal course as well as a ten pin bowling alley. For the children there are several play parks and an indoor play centre.
The city hosts a renowned International Arts Festival towards the end of May each year as well as an excellent and varied programme all year round in its theatre, arts centre and City Hall.
Stonehenge and Avebury are easily accessible by car or public transport and we can help you organise individual tours to your own itinerary with a local travel operator for groups of 2-16 people.
Alabaré House is a small Christian retreat centre that offers you a warm and friendly welcome, situated only 10 minutes walk from the heart of the city centre with its comprehensive facilities and Salisbury Cathedral.We are also close to parks and riverside walks.We have ten bedrooms available, each with fitted washbasins but some have en-suite facilities.
A large community lounge is available to guests in addition to the TV facilities in each bedroom.Children are most welcome.
We offer a secure car-parking area, with access via a gravel driveway, close to the Salisbury/Southampton A36.
Salisbury railway and bus stations are both within walking distance but each has a taxi rank which may be suitable for those with heavy luggage or mobility issues.
The train station gives access to London (Waterloo), Bristol & Bath, Southampton and the West Country, via Exeter and Plymouth.
National Express Coaches and Wilts & Dorset Bus Company cover a wide area including London, and allow access to the south coast at Bournemouth.

Two bedrooms are on the ground floor, each with their own bathrooms.Room 1 has level access for a wheelchair, but Room 2 has restricted access to the bathroom and is unsuitable for a wheel chair.
The house is non-smoking throughout, but guests may smoke outside if necessary.We thank you for respecting the needs of the staff and others guests.
Animals are not allowed with the exception of Assistance Dogs.
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
Please advise us of your anticipated arrival time so that we can be sure we are here to welcome you.
To ensure your accommodation is ready we ask that guests normally arrive between 4pm – 6pm.Alternative arrival times may, however, be possible by arrangement.
Parking is on a level gravel drive in front of the main door.
Access is via a wrought iron gateway with security code; you will be notified of the number on arrival.
Outdoor lights illuminate the driveway at night.
We have secure garaging for bicycles.Wet outdoor gear can be hung out to dry.
Main Entrance & Reception
The gate intercom will alert us to your arrival.
A small slope with two hand rails gives access to the front door.
We will welcome you and offer assistance with luggage.
The flooring of the reception hall is carpeted and level, giving continuous access to the lounge and breakfast room.There is an upright armchair at reception.
The rooms are illuminated by standard lights and lamps.
Public Areas – General
The floors are carpeted throughout.
The lounge is large, bright and airy and fresh flowers are always on display.It has Sky television and is usually available for guests to use except on Tuesday evenings.
The Chapel on the ground floor is available for quiet reflection.The house is run by an Ecumenical Christian Community and if you would like to participate in any of the spiritual activities whilst staying with us, then we will be pleased to share with you what is going on.
Three rooms are available on the ground floor, a twin en-suite shower and a double en-suite shower and a standard with shared bathroom..Only the shared bathroom has good wheelchair access. A wide staircase (117cm) gives access to the first floor.
Spacious public toilet facilities are available on the ground floor; one is a disabled toilet. The wash basin has a mixer tap turned on and off by a lever.
An electronic fire alarm is installed.When the bell rings the muster point is at the far end of the car park.Please advise us if you have a hearing impairment and might not hear this.
Public Areas - Dining
Breakfast is served in the dining section of the main lounge on large tables.A full English cooked breakfast is pre-ordered and served between 7.30 – 8.30am mid week and 8.00 – 9am at weekends.In addition a continental breakfast (juice, cereals, yoghurts, herbal teas etc.) are available as self-service.
Dining chairs do not have arms, but may be available on request.
The front garden is available for your pleasure, but has limited access for wheel chairs.
Packed lunches can be provided with 24 hours notice.
Cycles and wet weather clothing can be stored in the garaging.
Being in the heart of the city there are many places to visit.Brochures are on display and suggestions and directions can be given. The centre of Salisbury is level.
The Tourist Information Centre has a wide range of services to help you make the most of your stay in the Salisbury area.
Bedrooms – ground floor
Room 1 is a double room has an en-suite shower room, but space is limited for a wheel chair. The floor of the bathroom is made of anti slip tiles. The room overlooks the garden and the car park.
Room 2 has an en-suite shower room, but space is limited for a wheel chair if both beds are used.The room overlooks the garden.
Bedrooms – first floor
15 stairs (of approximately 18cm height) give access to the first floor, from which slopes maintain the level approaches to all rooms. Each step has white edging and hand rails each side.
All rooms have tea/coffee making facilities, vanity units and portable TVs.Guests may borrow a hairdryer, trouser press, small radio or iron.Fresh milk is available on request.
Bedrooms are light and airy with white duvet covers and décor.All are differently decorated.Duvets are synthetic and two synthetic pillows are standard.
All bedrooms, public toilets and showers are cleaned daily.Towels are changed when guests request.
All shower trays are raised and require stepping into; bathroom floors are tiled or laminated; shower chairs are not available; showers are supplied from the water system; gas central heating or electric night storage is throughout the house; towel rails in general are not heated.All taps are twist/turn manual non-mixer taps.
WC seat heights are standard, but a raiser is available on request.
We are happy to refrigerate any medication for a limited period.
Each room is given a door key for your security and a front door key for your convenience.
Taxis can be booked on request, or maps and guidance provided for your ongoing journey.
We ask that you vacate your room by 10am on the day of departure.Any later time must be agreed with the staff beforehand.
Wake up calls can be provided on request from 7.00am.
Payment can be made in cash, with sterling travellers’ cheques or by certain types of debit and credit cards.There is a 2% service charge for the latter.
We accept no liability for any loss or damage to vehicles or their contents in the car park.
